Vitamin D is a fat-soluble vitamin, responsible for the absorption of minerals such as calcium and phosphorus. Vitamin D has very important benefits for our bones, immune system and teeth. Moreover, getting sufficient levels of Vitamin D proves to be beneficial for mood balance and regulation. Vitamin D3 can be found in our diet, as well as via sun exposure, as the skin produces Vitamin D thanks to a form of photosynthesis.
Unfortunately, getting adequate levels of Vitamin D can be tricky, as most foods don’t provide us with the required amount, and getting Vitamin D via sun exposure can jeopardize skin health due to exposure to UVA and UVB lights and damage from free radicals. It is therefore deemed that the best route for getting sufficient levels of Vitamin D is by supplementation.
